We maintain two membership programs: Student Pugwash and the Rotblat Society. Student Pugwash is our flagship program for students ages 13 and up, and their supporting faculty, staff, and teachers. The Rotblat Society is our general membership program for "post-educational" people. All members of Student Pugwash are members of the Rotblat Society, but not vice-versa. You can also support us with a donation, or an additional donation if you're already a member.

Members receive a range of benefits, including our gratitude for supporting our mission of bringing ethical consideration in STEM fields to a wider audience. We'll list more benefits on this page at a later date as we roll out new programs, but at membership launch this includes membership in our online collaboration and discussion space, where Pugwash members can network, discuss Pugwash topics, and coordinate on projects.

Rotblat members who wish to support us at higher levels than the standard $60 dues can opt in to Supporter tiers, each named after someone crucial to the Pugwash Movement. Supporters will be acknowledged on the site, unless the member wishes to remain anonymous. Our annual membership options for Student Pugwash and the Rotblat Society:

  • Student Pugwash Member ($12, students only)
  • Student Pugwash Faculty/Staff Advisor ($36)
  • Rotblat Member, recent graduate ($36)
  • Rotblat Member ($60)
  • Einstein Supporter ($150, includes membership)
  • Russell Supporter ($300, includes membership)
Albert Einstein and Bertrand Russell were both signers in 1955 of the Russell-Einstein Manifesto, also called the Pugwash Manifesto, which called for the meeting of scientists that would lead to the first Pugwash Conference.
  • Cyrus and Anne Eaton Supporter ($500, includes membership)
Cyrus and Anne Eaton granted the use of the Eaton estate in Pugwash, Nova Scotia, for the first meeting of the Pugwash Conferences. They went on to found the Cyrus Eaton Foundation, which supports sustainable environments, social justice, cultural enrichment, and peaceful coexistence.
  • Ruth Adams Supporter ($1,000, includes membership)
Ruth Adams was the editor of the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, and held additional positions at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the ACLU of Illinois. Similarly to Joseph Rotblat, she was a staunch friend and indefatigable supporter of Student Pugwash.
